SteelSeries Engine 3 collects a basic amount of data in order to provide services to our customers and enhance our products.

What data does SteelSeries Engine 3 collect?

In order to provide accurate notifications for available firmware and software updates, we collect the following information:

  • SteelSeries devices that you have connected to SteelSeries Engine 3
  • The firmware version of each of your connected SteelSeries devices
  • The version number of your SteelSeries Engine 3 installation
  • Your SteelSeries Engine 3 Application ID – this is a random and unique number generated upon installation that allows us to treat your installation as a unique installation. We implemented this to avoid using something personally identifiable such as your mac address.
  • The version of your OS (Windows 8, Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.9, etc.)
  • Your IP Address – we collect this so we can quickly identify issues we may have at a regional level

When does SteelSeries Engine 3 collect this data?

Periodically, SteelSeries Engine 3 will check to see if any firmware or software updates are available for your connected SteelSeries products. We check for available firmware and software updates via SteelSeries Engine 3 during the following times:

  • Every 24 hours hereafter

In order for us to provide our CloudSync service of backing up and syncing your data across gaming machines, we will be collecting and storing the following data:

  • Your SteelSeries devices (and relevant information about those devices) that you connect to SteelSeries Engine 3
  • Your configurations that you create for each device
  • Your macros that you create
  • Your applications with which you choose to trigger an auto-launch of a configuration
